Legend-wait for it-dary

Lexington Legends vs. Delmarva Shorebirds (South Atlantic League)

Whitaker Bank Ballpark-Lexington, KY:  One our way back from Tennessee, we decided to make a stop in Lexington for a ballgame.  Am a big fan of Single-A ball and Whitaker Bank Ballpark, so lots to like about this game.  This was actually Brian’s first game here, also.  It had been rainy all day, but cleared up enough for us to enjoy the game.

Brian also got a game ball, and got a photo op with Big L.

On to the game,  as it was an exciting one.  A couple different players pitched in offensively for the Legends. Chase Vallot went 1-3 with an RBI, while  Matt Morales went 1-4 with an RBI.  On the mound, Kris Bubic threw five innings, giving up four runs, but striking out seven.  Jon Heasley earned the win, throwing a shutout inning in the ninth.

A fun night of baseball, even though we were pretty tired, but I’m always up for a game here.  This trip was a great start to the 2019 season, and we look forward to some Bats games in the coming weeks.

Wow! This was really a cool post for me to read! Because believe it or not! I know the Lexington Legends!!! Back in 2014 or 15, I met another big baseball fan online who was from Kentucky and who read my blog. He’s had season tickets to the Legends! And he sent me a pair of blue knee high socks with that mustache logo!! I just think that’s cool because I am a huge baseball person – as is obvious! LOL! But that’s a random team for a chick blogger from the West Coast to know about a Single=A team in the South Atlantic League – I know about a lot of MiLB teams but they are mostly in the California League and the PCL!! So this post was really a joy to read! Loved it! Thanks for sharing this story!! If I am ever in Lexington (which is unlikely – it’s something I will stop and go see!! and it’s good to know that you are fond of their ballpark! It makes really wanna see a game a game there! How fun ! And while I would head it anyway, I almost immediately knew made the connection which was pretty exciting to realize I’ve known the team for years! Thanks! Great post and it was cool to really be able to connect with it!! 🙂
